And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? | Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? |
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. | Why are you in despair, my soul? And why are you restless within me? Wait for God, for I will again praise Him For the help of His presence, my God. |

And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? | And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ |
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. | Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins by calling on His name. |
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. | Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. |
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. | All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up. |
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. | Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” |

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. | I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. |
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. | Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. |
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. | All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. |
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. | For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. |
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. | And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” |
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. | And the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God. |
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. | Do not say, “Why is it that the former days were better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this. |
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? | I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I look at a virgin? |
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. | Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted to him. |
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. | While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. |
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. | But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.” |
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. | For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. |
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. | But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. |
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. | Yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. |
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. | Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. |
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? |
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. | All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. |
