Bible Verses about 'Why do bad things happen'
- And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
- Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God. - And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’
- Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

“Why were the former days better than these?”
For you do not inquire wisely concerning this. - All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
- Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
- Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
- And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
- While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
- And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
- And the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.
- For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
- I have made a covenant with my eyes;
Why then should I look upon a young woman? - But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
- But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
- Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
- Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
- Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
- And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
- For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
- Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
- What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
- Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
- All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
- The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
- And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.
- Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
- He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! - These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
- But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
- He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him. - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
- For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.
- Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
- But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
- He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
- But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”
- So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.”
- His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
- For He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness. - O Lord, You are my God.
I will exalt You,
I will praise Your name,
For You have done wonderful things;
Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. - And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
- Sing to the Lord,
For He has done excellent things;
This is known in all the earth. - Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”
But He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?”
And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” - And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
