YOUR SPIRIT (3/4)

  • And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
  • When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
  • The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace.
  • Peter answered, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
  • Beloved,
    do not trust every spirit,
    but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
    For many false prophets
have gone out into the world.
  • A man’s pride will bring him low,
but lowly souls will rise to honor.
  • Can anyone withhold the water of baptism from these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
  • Does God give you the Spirit and work mighty deeds among you because you have kept the Law or because you believed what you have heard?
  • Until a spirit from on high
    is poured out upon us,
and the wilderness becomes an orchard
and the fruitful field becomes a forest.
  • When the Advocate comes
whom I will send you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father,
he will testify on my behalf.
  • All those who keep his commandments abide in him,
    and he abides in them.
And the proof that he abides in us
is the Spirit that he has given us.
  • Hence, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
  • I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know him.
  • Do not seek to adorn yourself externally—by the braiding of your hair and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothing. Rather, let your adornment be of your inner self, the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
  • For thus says the One who is high and exalted,
    who lives eternally
    and whose name is holy:
I dwell in a high and holy place
but I am with the contrite and the humble,
to revive the spirit of the humble
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
  • However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
  • Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
  • In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.
  • No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
  • Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from anything that can defile flesh or spirit, and thereby make our holiness perfect in the fear of God.
  • However, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
    will teach you everything
    and remind you of all
that I have said to you.
  • For where your treasure is, there will your heart also be.
  • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may grow rich in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • After he had decided to follow this course of action, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary into your home as your wife. For this child has been conceived in her womb through the Holy Spirit.”

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from acts that lead to death so that we may worship the living God.
