- Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right?
- Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows.
- And so does kindness, O Lord.
You reward each person
in accordance with his deeds. - Flee from sexual immorality! Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the fornicator sins against his own body.
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
Let your gracious Spirit lead me
along a level path. - This is how everyone will know
that you are my disciples:
if you love one another. - No trial has confronted you except what a person can stand. God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tried beyond your strength. But together with the trial he will also provide a way out and the strength to bear it.
- You are truly my rock and my fortress;
for the sake of your name, lead and guide me. - Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
- Then he went on, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from within, and they defile a person.”
- He said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not realize that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not into the heart but into the stomach and is discharged into the sewer?” Thus, he pronounced all foods clean.
- What is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him? - For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace.
- Guide me in your truth and instruct me,
for you are God, my Savior,
and in you I hope all the day long. - I am confident of this: that the one who began a good work in you will bring it to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.
- Therefore, encourage one another and strengthen one another, as indeed you are doing.
- Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed;
save me, and I will be saved;
you are the one whom I praise. - Two are better than one:
they earn a far greater reward for their toil. - Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
- “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
- Anxiety in the human heart weighs it down,
but a kind word makes it glad. - But the one who did not know those wishes, and who acted in such a manner as to deserve a beating, will be beaten less severely. Much will be demanded of a person to whom much has been given, and even more will be asked of a person to whom more has been entrusted.
- I am the vine,
you are the branches.
Whoever abides in me, and I in him,
will bear much fruit.
Apart from me you can do nothing. - You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, what can be done to make it salty once again? It is no longer good for anything, and thus it is cast out and trampled underfoot.
- Before the mountains were brought forth
or the earth and the world came into existence,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
