- Blessed is the person who has found wisdom,
the one who has gained understanding. - O Lord, you are kind and forgiving,

that I am going to prepare a place for you? - One person may consider one day to be more sacred than another, while another may judge all days to be alike. Let everyone be convinced in his own beliefs.

than the one who is in the world. - When they arrest you and bring you to trial, do not be concerned beforehand about what you are to say. Simply say whatever is given to you when that time comes, for it will not be you who speak but the Holy Spirit.
- Yet even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are thereby blessed. Have no fear of others, and refuse to be intimidated by them.
- O God, you are my God,
for whom I have been searching earnestly.
My soul yearns for you
and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
arid and without water. - Pay to each person what is rightfully his—taxes to the one to whom taxes are due, tolls to the one to whom tolls are due, respect to the one to whom respect is due, honor to the one to whom honor is due.
- Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life. - This water prefigured Baptism, which now saves you. It does so not by the washing away of dirt from the body but by the pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- How much more valuable a man is than a sheep! Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- Therefore, you have no excuse, whoever you may be, when you pass judgment on others. For in judging others you condemn yourself, since you are doing the same things.
- Those of you who seek to be justified by the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from grace.
- God abides in anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
and that person abides in God. - Who among you is wise and understanding? Prove by your good life that your works are done with the humility that comes from wisdom.
