- Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
- The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”
- May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
- Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him. - The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. - The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.
- For whoever finds me finds life
and receives favor from the Lord. - It is better to be godly and have little
than to be evil and rich.
For the strength of the wicked will be shattered,
but the Lord takes care of the godly. - If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.
- Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
- A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
- Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes.
- For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.
- But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
- Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him. - So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
- The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed. - “All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
- Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good. - The man who finds a wife finds a treasure,
and he receives favor from the Lord. - May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
- Seek the Lord, all who are humble,
and follow his commands.
Seek to do what is right
and to live humbly.
Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you—
protect you from his anger on that day of destruction. - Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord! - How joyful are those who fear the Lord—
all who follow his ways! - Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
