- Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
- Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
- Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
- Wash you, make you clean;
put away the evil of your doings
from before mine eyes;
cease to do evil. - The fear of the Lord is to hate evil:
pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,
and the froward mouth, do I hate. - Depart from evil, and do good;
seek peace, and pursue it. - Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
- A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
- Keep thy tongue from evil,
and thy lips from speaking guile. - See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
- Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
- Turn not to the right hand nor to the left:
remove thy foot from evil. - It is an honour for a man to cease from strife:
but every fool will be meddling. - Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
- Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
- But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
- Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil:
but to the counsellors of peace is joy. - And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. - But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
- For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
- I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
- Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.
- The face of the Lord is against them that do evil,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. - Seek good, and not evil,
that ye may live:
and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you,
as ye have spoken. - For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Ye that love the Lord, hate evil:
he preserveth the souls of his saints;
he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.A fool despiseth his father's instruction:
but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
