Cometh (3/4)

  • On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!”
  • That is why the Lord says,
“Turn to me now, while there is time.
    Give me your hearts.
Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.”
  • Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’
  • But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.
  • Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
  • Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”
  • “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”
  • Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
  • We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
  • And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
  • But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
  • But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”
  • The Lord keeps you from all harm
    and watches over your life.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
    both now and forever.
  • Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
  • Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
  • In the night I search for you;
in the morning I earnestly seek you.
For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right.
  • For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.
  • Enjoy prosperity while you can,
but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.
Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
  • The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!
  • Pray like this:
    Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
    May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
    as it is in heaven.
  • So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
  • Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.
  • Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”
  • Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
  • “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,
‘People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices.
