| I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. | As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. |
| And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. | And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. |
| And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. | And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” |
| Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. | I am coming quickly; hold firmly to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. |

| Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. | Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. |

| The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. | The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time and forever. |
| Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. | And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood.” |

| Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. | Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. | So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. |
| Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. | For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. |
| But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. | After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. |
| As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. | As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, God. |
| And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. | Then, when they had fasted, prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. |
| It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry. | It is a trap for a person to say carelessly, “It is holy!” And after the vows to make inquiry. |
