- Grandchildren are the crown of the old,
And the glory of sons is their fathers. - For by their own sword they did not possess the land,
And their own arm did not save them,
But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence,
For You favored them. - As they had their pasture, they became satisfied,
And as they became satisfied, their heart became proud;
Therefore they forgot Me. - Now whenever you fast, do not make a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they distort their faces so that they will be noticed by people when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
- Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he grows older he will not abandon it. - Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. - Blessed are those who comply with His testimonies,

And saved them from their destruction. - For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

- But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our wrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And by the breath of His mouth all their lights. - If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out, then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
- And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
- And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
- Some praise their chariots and some their horses,
But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God. - If only they had such a heart in them, to fear Me and keep all My commandments always, so that it would go well with them and with their sons forever!
- For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears attend to their prayer,
But the face of the Lord is against evildoers. - For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
