- Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples. - Jesus replied,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.” - For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world
but in order that the world might be saved through him. - Every good act of giving and every perfect gift are from above, coming down from the Father of all light. With him there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.
- Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds;
let this be known throughout the entire world. - A gift opens doors for the giver
and wins him access to the powerful. - Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you.
- And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
- But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
- “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
so I send you.” - However, whoever lives by the truth
comes to the light
so that it may be clearly seen
that his deeds have been done in God. - To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
- I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where will I receive help?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - During the day the Lord grants his kindness,
and at night his praise is with me,
a prayer to the living God. - He continued, “Then put away the foreign gods from among you. Bend your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - For so has the Lord commanded us to do, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles
so that you may bring salvation
to the farthest corners of the earth.’ - About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
- Then, after he had spoken to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and there he took his place at the right hand of God.
- And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- The wealthy man lords it over the poor,
and the borrower becomes the slave of the lender. - If he refuses to listen to them, report it to the Church. And if he refuses to listen to the Church, treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.
- In my distress I called out to the Lord;
he answered by setting me free.
Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress, so that I stand unshaken.
