- The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it. - To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.
- Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
- Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.
- At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.” - And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
- We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!
- And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.
- Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you.
- For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
- While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
- For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
- Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
- They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
- And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen. - The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. - The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. - And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
- Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
- For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.
- And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.
- Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
- For, “Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.” - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
