- You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.
- O Lord, all my longing is known to you,
and my sighs are not hidden from you. - You are all-beautiful, my love,
without the slightest blemish. - A word is not even on my tongue
and you, O Lord, are completely aware of it. - Hatred stirs up strife,
but love overlooks all offenses. - You, O Lord, are light for my lamp;
O my God, you make my darkness turn to light. - For from the beginning
you have heard the message
that we should love one another. - For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render.
- Beloved,
since God loved us so much,
we should love one another. - Do not succumb to the love of money, but be content with what you have, for God has said, “I will never forsake you or abandon you.”
- The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
a warrior and a savior.
He will rejoice over you with gladness
and renew you through his love.
He will exult over you with shouts of joy. - Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
- Love is patient;
love is charitable.
Love is not envious;
it does not have an inflated opinion of itself;
it is not filled with its own importance.
Love is never rude;
it does not seek its own advantage.
It is not prone to anger;
neither does it brood over setbacks. - If you obey the command that I give you today, to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways, and to observe his commandments, statutes, and decrees, then you will live and multiply, and the Lord, your God, will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
- And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- No one can have greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends. - Those who love your law have great peace;
they encounter no stumbling blocks. - However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband.
- Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he protects the souls of his faithful ones
and rescues them from the hand of the wicked. - This is the commandment
we have received from him:
whoever loves God
must also love his brother. - Dear children,
let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth. - O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me;
may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever. - But as for you, man of God, you must shun all this. Rather, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, fortitude, and gentleness.
- Turn away from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.
- Yet, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay and you are our potter;
all of us are the work of your hands.
