| We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. | For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. | And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. |
| This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. | Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |
| If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? | But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? |
| For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. |
| May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. | Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. |
