John 4:18 (3/4)

  • If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
  • These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
  • This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
  • Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
  • You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
  • If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
  • But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.
  • Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
  • And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.
  • Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
  • I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.
  • I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
  • And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
  • I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
  • Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
  • I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
  • When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
  • Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
  • Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
  • Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
  • Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  • All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
  • The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
  • But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

O God, you are my God;
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
