- But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
- Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. - If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

- Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce. - This is a trustworthy saying:
If we die with him,
we will also live with him. - Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
- But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
- Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
- You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
- My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
- My child, never forget the things I have taught you.
Store my commands in your heart.
If you do this, you will live many years,
and your life will be satisfying. - For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. - Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
- For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.
- Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? - The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline;
whoever learns from correction is wise.
