Long for you (2/4)

  • For you know that the testing of your faith will develop perseverance.
  • Ah, Lord God, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm. Nothing is impossible for you.
  • As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
    we wait for you, O Lord;
    your name and your renown
    are all that our heart desires.
  • In peace I lie down and sleep,
    for only with your help, O Lord,
    can I rest secure.
  • Then he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you. Do this in memory of me.”
  • O God, you are my God,
    for whom I have been searching earnestly.
    My soul yearns for you
    and my body thirsts for you,
    like the earth when it is parched,
    arid and without water.
  • Even though I wander
    through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
    for you are at my side,
    with your rod and your staff
    that comfort me.
  • Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
  • This, in fact, is what you have been called to do, because Christ himself suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his footsteps.
  • Yet even so, because of your great compassion,
    you did not completely destroy them,
    nor did you forsake them,
    for you are a gracious and merciful God.
  • Because in my eyes you are precious,
    because you are honored and I love you,
    I will give people in exchange for you
    and nations in return for your life.
  • Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you.
  • May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you.
  • But I will sing of your strength;
    when morning dawns, I will proclaim your kindness.
    For you have been my fortress,
    my refuge in times of trouble.
  • Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
  • Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed;
    save me, and I will be saved;
    you are the one whom I praise.
  • For I know full well the plans I have for you, plans for your welfare and not for your misfortune, plans that will offer you a future filled with hope.
  • Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase.
  • Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord;
    you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield.
  • Continue in all of the ways that the Lord, your God, has commanded you. Continue in them so that you may live and prosper and that you may long dwell on the land of your inheritance.
  • Fear not, little flock, for your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom.
  • I am pulled in opposite directions. My desire is to depart and to be with Christ, for that is far better, but, it is a more urgent need for you that I remain in the body.
  • O Lord, you are kind and forgiving,
    filled with kindness for all who cry to you.
  • For you did not receive a spirit of slavery leading to fear; rather, you received the Spirit of adoption, enabling us to cry out, “Abba! Father!”
  • Whatever moves and has life will be used for your food. I give you all these things, just as I have already given you every green plant. Only do not eat flesh along with its life, that is, with its blood.

Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.”
