The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death.
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.The Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us, for he has knowledge of that which is good and that which is evil. Now, we must prevent him from reaching out and taking the fruit of the tree of life lest he eat it and live forever.” The Lord God cast him out of the Garden of Eden; henceforth he was to labor tilling the soil from which he had come.
Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him, but humility comes before honors.
I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass.I, I alone, am the one who comforts you. Why then do you fear mortal men who must die, human beings who must perish like grass?
A person’s riches may ransom their life, but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.A wealthy man pays a ransom to save his life; a poor man never has to worry about such threats.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me?
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to place your trust in mortals.
A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season.
Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.Alleluia. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his precepts.
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.One who finds a wife finds happiness and receives favor from the Lord.
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.And just as no human being comprehends any person’s innermost being except the person’s own spirit within him, so also no one comprehends what pertains to God except the Spirit of God.
How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.How much more valuable a man is than a sheep! Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.A man’s ways may seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.The Lord then said, “Very well. All that he has is in your power. However, you may not lay a hand upon him.” So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.It is honorable to avoid strife, but every fool is quarrelsome.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.The future bodes well for him who is generous in helping those in need and who conducts his affairs with justice.
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”Therefore, we can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband.
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.The prudent man perceives danger and seeks shelter, while the simple continue forward and pay the penalty.
And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.Blessed is the man whom God reproves. Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself.

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the company of scoffers.
