Running over (2/4)

  • For he guards the paths of justice
    and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones.
  • His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you much greater responsibilities. Come and share your master’s joy.’
  • If I give away everything to feed the poor
    and hand over my body to be burned,
    but do not have love,
    I achieve nothing.
  • A highway will be there
    that will be called the Way of Holiness.
    No one who is unclean may pass over it;
    it will serve as a path for pilgrims
    and no fool will be able to use it.
  • Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them. They will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
  • If the Lord does not build the house,
    those who construct it labor in vain.
    If the Lord does not guard the city,
    those who keep watch over it do so in vain.
  • The tongue has the power over life and death;
    those who cherish it will enjoy its fruits.
  • Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.
  • Yours, O Lord, are greatness,
    power, glory, strength, and majesty,
    for everything in heaven and on earth is yours.
    Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom;
    you are exalted as head over all.
  • He builds his upper chambers in the heavens
    and establishes his vault of the sky over the earth—
    the Lord is his name.
  • Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to distribute among the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Then they gathered up what was left over—twelve baskets of fragments.
  • He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day.
  • If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
  • Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing
    but rejoices in the truth.
    Love bears all things,
    believes all things,
    hopes all things,
    endures all things.
  • Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless
    is the man devoid of self-control.
  • What god can compare with you,
    the God who takes away guilt
    and forgives the transgressions
    of the remnant of your people?
    You will not allow your anger to fester forever,
    for your delight is in bestowing mercy.
  • While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud cast a shadow over them. Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
  • He will not permit your foot to stumble;
    he who guards you will not fall asleep.
  • May God continue to bless us
    and be revered to the ends of the earth.
  • For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
    and his ears are attentive to their prayer.
    However, the face of the Lord
    is set against those who do evil.
  • Love is patient;
    love is charitable.
    Love is not envious;
    it does not have an inflated opinion of itself;
    it is not filled with its own importance.
    Love is never rude;
    it does not seek its own advantage.
    It is not prone to anger;
    neither does it brood over setbacks.
  • But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
    on those who trust in his kindness.
  • But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
    and his ears are open to their cry.
  • On one Sabbath as Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, a woman was present, possessed by a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and completely unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.” Then he laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God.

    But the leader of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had effected a cure on the Sabbath, and he said to the assembled people, “There are six days when work is permitted. Come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath.” The Lord said to him in reply, “You hypocrites! Is there a single one of you who does not untie his ox or his donkey and lead it from its stall to give it water on the Sabbath? Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has held bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath?” At these words, all his adversaries were put to shame, and the people rejoiced at all the wonderful things he was doing.

Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away,
but when amassed little by little, it will increase.

Jesus then said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
even though he dies, will live,
and everyone who lives
and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?”
