- Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

- My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God? - Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and founds his vault upon the earth;
who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
the Lord is his name. - If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me
on level ground! - So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
- Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
- “Yet even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” - And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
- Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me. - Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist. - He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God? - Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
- For you are my rock and my fortress;
and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me. - For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- In you, O Lord, do I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me! - Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
