- The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked, what is perverse. - The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
- Better is the little that the righteous has
than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein. - The vine dries up;
the fig tree languishes.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple,
all the trees of the field are dried up,
and gladness dries up
from the children of man. - I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.
- Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and founds his vault upon the earth;
who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
the Lord is his name. - Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
- Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers. - Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
- Who has performed and done this,
calling the generations from the beginning?
I, the Lord, the first,
and with the last; I am he. - The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever. - Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain. - The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless,
but destruction to evildoers. - Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation. - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth. - For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
- As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
- And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
- Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
- The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry. - But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
- O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. - But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
