- I said to the Lord, “You are my Master!
Every good thing I have comes from you.” - The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple. - Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! - Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. - Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. - But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
- And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
- And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
- As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.
- Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.
- Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!”
- Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
- Now may the God of peace—
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep,
and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—
may he equip you with all you need
for doing his will.
May he produce in you,
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. - So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
- For he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things. - Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
- Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.
- No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
- A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
- Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back.
- Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world. - But for us,
There is one God, the Father,
by whom all things were created,
and for whom we live.
And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ,
through whom all things were created,
and through whom we live. - I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. - Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you! Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!Next verse! With image
