- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And defend the rights of the poor and needy. - Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool,
Much less are lying lips to a prince. - And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.
- Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And by the breath of His mouth all their lights. - For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
- I have not failed the command of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. - But make sure your statement is, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil origin.
- In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried to my God for help;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry for help before Him came into His ears. - I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth. - But above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment.
- For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
- Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
- If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.
- And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not happen or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you are not to be afraid of him.
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
But those who deal faithfully are His delight. - And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’
- And on that day you will say,
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name.
Make known His deeds among the peoples;
Make them remember that His name is exalted.” - And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.
- I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart;
I will tell of all Your wonders. - And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
- The words of a gossiper are like dainty morsels,
And they go down into the innermost parts of the body. - You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
- Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
- But I say to you, take no oath at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God, nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
