No trial has confronted you except what a person can stand. God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tried beyond your strength. But together with the trial he will also provide a way out and the strength to bear it. | There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. |
Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. | Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |

Blessed is the man who perseveres when he is tempted, for when he has been proven, he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. | Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. |

Then he went on, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from within, and they defile a person.” | And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. |
While experiencing temptation, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. | Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. |
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. | And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. |
Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. |
O Lord, all my longing is known to you, and my sighs are not hidden from you. | Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. |
For you know that the testing of your faith will develop perseverance. | Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. |
Brethren, if anyone is detected committing a transgression, you who are spiritual must set him right in a spirit of gentleness. Meanwhile, you should take care so that you yourselves are not tempted. | Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. |
Therefore, put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day and to hold your ground with all your strength. | Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. |
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tested in every respect as we are, but without sinning. | For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. |
Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment. | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. |
The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but worldly cares and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. | He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. |
Rather, put on the Lord Jesus Christ and allow no opportunity for the flesh to gratify its sinful desires. | But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. |
For you, O God, have put us to the test; you have purified us as silver is refined. | For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. |
