For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. For he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.” Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
“I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Humility is the fear of the Lord;
its wages are riches and honor and life. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” The Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous. He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Diligent hands will rule,
but laziness ends in forced labor. Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.Next verse!With image
