- This is the commandment
we have received from him:
whoever loves God
must also love his brother. - For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace.
- For Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for the justification of all who believe.
- If you love me,
you will keep my commandments. - What then should we say? That the Law is sinful? Absolutely not! Yet if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin was. I would not have known what covet is if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
- The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law.
- Observe the ordinances of the Lord, your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and what he witnessed in writing in the law of Moses. In this way you will prosper in whatever you do and wherever you go.
- “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and every other commandment are all summed up in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- A wise man will heed commandments,
but a babbling fool will come to grief. - Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged.
- Those who love your law have great peace;
they encounter no stumbling blocks. - Love cannot result in any harm to the neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the Law.
- Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in accord with the law of the Lord. - However, the one who looks intently at the perfect law of freedom and perseveres—not forgetting what he has heard but putting it into practice—will be blessed in everything he does.
- This is the end of my teaching.
All has been heard.
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for that is the responsibility of everyone. - You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.
- You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
- My son, do not forget my teaching,
but cherish my commandments in your heart,
for they will bring you length of days,
more years of life, and an abundance of prosperity. - Whoever observes the commandments will live,
but the one who scorns them will die. - He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
- All those who keep his commandments abide in him,
and he abides in them.
And the proof that he abides in us
is the Spirit that he has given us. - Hence, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
- Anyone who has received my commandments
and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me
will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him
and reveal myself to him. - Everyone who sins breaks the law,
for sin is lawlessness. - We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, yet we know that a man is justified not by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we too came to believe in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in him and not by the works of the Law, for no one will be justified by the works of the Law.
