Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. | Do not worry about anything, but present your needs to God in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. Then the peace of God, which is beyond all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. |
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. | I can do all things in him who strengthens me. |
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. | Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vanity, but humbly regard others as better than yourselves. |
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. | And my God will fully supply all your needs out of the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. |
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. | Finally, brethren, let your minds be filled with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, whatever is excellent, whatever is worthy of praise. |
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. | Let your kindness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. |
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! | Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! |
Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. | Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. |
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. | Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus. |
For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. | For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. |
