- The Lord is good,
an unfailing refuge in a time of distress.
He takes care of those who place their trust in him. - The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Pursue justice and rescue the oppressed;
listen to the plea of the orphan
and defend the widow. - The Lord redeems the lives of those who serve him;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him. - He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress, so that I stand ever unshaken. - The way of God is blameless;
the Lord’s promise has proved true.
He is a shield to all
who take refuge in him. - For he guards the paths of justice
and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. - The prudent man perceives danger and seeks shelter,
while the simple continue forward and pay the penalty. - They will never again experience hunger or thirst,
nor will the sun or any scorching heat cause them discomfort.
For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd.
He will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. - O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me;
may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever. - Therefore, put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day and to hold your ground with all your strength.

a refuge in times of distress. - If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple.
- He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. - And do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. - Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing
but rejoices in the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things. - He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress, so that I stand unshaken. - Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. - The Lord then said, “Very well. All that he has is in your power. However, you may not lay a hand upon him.” So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
- The Lord watches over the stranger
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he blocks the way of the wicked. - You, O Lord, are light for my lamp;
O my God, you make my darkness turn to light. - Seek the Lord,
all you humble of the land
who obey his commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
then perhaps you may find shelter
on the day of the Lord’s anger. - He will never be swayed;
the righteous man will be remembered forever.
