Righteousness (3/5)

There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death.
Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.Preferable is the little that the righteous possess than the great wealth of the wicked. For the power of the wicked will be overcome, but the Lord protects the righteous.
The lips of the righteous know what finds favor, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. The lips of the righteous utter words of kindness, but the mouth of the wicked knows only how to pervert.
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render.
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.I rejoice in the Lord with all my heart; my soul exults in my God. For he has clothed me in garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of saving justice, like a bridegroom adorned with a garland or a bride bedecked with her jewels.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways. For the Lord detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright.
This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render fair judgments, and show kindness and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor. Do not plot evil in your heart against one another.
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. You are the light of the world. A city built upon a mountain cannot be hidden.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and merciful in everything he does.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous.
Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.O Lord, hear my prayer, incline your ear to my supplications. In your faithfulness respond to me with your righteousness.
Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.Grant justice to the weak and the orphan; defend the rights of the lowly and the poor.
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. But the one who did not know those wishes, and who acted in such a manner as to deserve a beating, will be beaten less severely. Much will be demanded of a person to whom much has been given, and even more will be asked of a person to whom more has been entrusted.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!But even so the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you, and he will rise up to grant you his compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous, but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked.
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.Everyone who sins breaks the law, for sin is lawlessness.
We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, yet we know that a man is justified not by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we too came to believe in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in him and not by the works of the Law, for no one will be justified by the works of the Law.
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value. The tongue of the just man is like pure silver; the heart of the wicked is without worth.
He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. He reserves his wisdom for the upright and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives.
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!I do not set aside the grace of God, for if justification comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing.
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. My soul longs for you throughout the night, and my spirit within me seeks your presence. For when your judgments are revealed to the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn to practice justice.

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in accord with the law of the Lord.
