| A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. | A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. |
| The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. | What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar. |
| Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. | Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. |
| Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. | The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. |
| Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. | Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. |
| And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? | I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’ |
| For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us. | For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us. |
| Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. | But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. |
| He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. | He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. |
| And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. | And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. |
| A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. | A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. |
| And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. | Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. |
