The reward of humility and fear of the Lord is wealth, honor, and life. | By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. |
Be doers of the word and not just hearers who only deceive themselves. | But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. |
Just as in Adam all die, so all will be brought to life in Christ. | For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. |
One who finds a wife finds happiness and receives favor from the Lord. | Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. |
The blessing of the Lord is what brings wealth, and our toil adds nothing to it. | The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. |
The wealthy man lords it over the poor, and the borrower becomes the slave of the lender. | The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. |
A cheerful heart is excellent medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. | A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. |
The Lord abhors lying lips, but he delights in those who are truthful. | Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. |
Plans miscarry when counsel is lacking, but they succeed when there are many counselors. | Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. |
A man’s attraction is his kindness; it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. | The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. |
I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ | And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? |
Train a child in the way he should go, and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. | Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. |
Test everything, and hold fast to what is good. Avoid every form of evil. | Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. |
The one who gives this testimony says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! | He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. |

And now, what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name. | And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. |
An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches, and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold. | A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. |
He reveals deep and hidden mysteries and knows what lies in the darkness, for light dwells with him. | He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. |
Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve. | And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. |
