And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. | Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.” |
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. | But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’” |

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. | My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him. |
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. | For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up. |
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. | In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. | He alone is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress. I will never be greatly shaken. |
Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. | My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him. |
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. | If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. |
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. | Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. |
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. | He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken. |
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. | Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. |
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. | He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth. |
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. | If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. |
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. | Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is one. You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. |
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? | Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another? |
Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. | You shall walk after Yahweh your God, fear him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice. You shall serve him, and cling to him. |
Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. | Let your loving kindness be on us, Yahweh, since we have hoped in you. |
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. | My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. |
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. | Heal me, O Yahweh, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise. |
And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one. | Yahweh will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahweh will be one, and his name one. |
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass. | I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who will be made as grass? |
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. | But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh. |
Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. | Therefore you are great, Yahweh God. For there is no one like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. |
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he. | Who has worked and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, Yahweh, the first, and with the last, I am he. |
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. | Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all! In your hand is power and might! It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all! |
