- Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good?
- I, yes I, am the one who comforts you.
So why are you afraid of mere humans,
who wither like the grass and disappear? - O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. - The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly. - God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God. - When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
- The godly are showered with blessings;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. - We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.
- For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
on a firm footing. - Wise words bring approval,
but fools are destroyed by their own words. - O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed;
if you save me, I will be truly saved.
My praises are for you alone! - I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
- He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect.
Everything he does is just and fair.
He is a faithful God who does no wrong;
how just and upright he is! - Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you. - He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
- So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
- Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
- Others were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you. - For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory. - God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
- Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
- You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things.
- Let those who are wise understand these things.
Let those with discernment listen carefully.
The paths of the Lord are true and right,
and righteous people live by walking in them.
But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.
