As a child (3/4)

  • Your statutes are my heritage forever;
    they are the joy of my heart.
  • I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
    your sins like the morning mist.
    Return to me,
    for I have redeemed you.
  • For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
  • For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
  • As far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
  • And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.
  • A gossip betrays a confidence,
    but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.
  • I will sing to the Lord all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
  • Till the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
    and the desert becomes a fertile field,
    and the fertile field seems like a forest.
  • If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
  • But let justice roll on like a river,
    righteousness like a never-failing stream!
  • Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
    you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
  • There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
  • Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
  • I rejoice in following your statutes
    as one rejoices in great riches.
  • Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
  • A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
  • “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
    says the Lord.
    “Though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
    though they are red as crimson,
    they shall be like wool.”
  • I spread out my hands to you;
    I thirst for you like a parched land.
  • But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
  • And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
  • Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
  • After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.
  • Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
