| And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. | Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ. |
| Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. | As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. |

| A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. | I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another. |
| Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. | Seek good and not evil, so that you may live. Then the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you as you claim he is. |
| So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. | In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself. |
| Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. | However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband. |
| He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. | Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, ‘Streams of living water shall flow from within him.’ |
| But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. | But do not ignore this one fact, beloved: with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. |
| For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. | For ‘In him we live and move and have our being.’ As even your own poets have said, ‘We are all his offspring.’ |
| And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. | The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. |
| Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. | Beloved, we are God’s children now. What we shall be has not yet been revealed. However, we do know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he really is. Everyone who has this hope in him keeps himself pure, just as he is pure. |
| For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. | For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so too, through Christ, do we receive our consolation. |
| Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. | Likewise, you who are husbands must show consideration for your wives in your life together. Treat your wife with respect, for even though she is the weaker partner, she is also an equal heir of God’s gift of life. Thus, your prayers will not be hindered in any way. |
| And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. | And let us consider how to spur one another to love and good works. | Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. | Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son. |
| If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. | If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. |
| And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. | And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as they had been told. |
| As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. | Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so whoever feeds upon me will live because of me. |
| And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. | Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to do so. |
| And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you. | May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you. |
| But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. | And as we gaze upon the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, all of us are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. |
| But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. | As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine. |
| For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. | In it the righteousness of God is revealed, beginning in faith and established in faith. As it is written: “The one who is righteous will live through faith.” |
| But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. | Rather, let justice flow like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. |
