| Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. | Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. | Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. | A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! | A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word! |
| Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. | And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
