Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they succeed. | Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success. |
Some praise their chariots and some their horses, But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God. | Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. |
One who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, But one who is trustworthy conceals a matter. | A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence. |
Avoiding strife is an honor for a person, But any fool will quarrel. | Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. |
A fool rejects his father’s discipline, But he who complies with rebuke is sensible. | Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise. |
The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, But ruin to the workers of injustice. | The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. |
One who walks in integrity walks securely, But one who perverts his ways will be found out. | People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed. |
