Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. | Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. |

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? | With the Lord on my side I do not fear. What can mortals do to me? |
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. | Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. |
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? | My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God? |
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. | A capable wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. |
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. | Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable. |
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. | And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. |

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? | What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? |
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. | Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. |
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” | Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.” |
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” | So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” |
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. | And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken. |
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. | No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it. |
