- Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life.

is one who lacks self-control. - And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
- For a thousand years in your sight
are like yesterday when it is past,
or like a watch in the night. - I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud,
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you. - You shall not abuse any widow or orphan. If you do abuse them, when they cry out to me, I will surely heed their cry; my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children orphans.
- I stretch out my hands to you;
my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah - God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
and makes me tread upon the heights. - But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
- Keep his statutes and his commandments, which I am commanding you today for your own well-being and that of your descendants after you, so that you may long remain in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.
- Therefore you are great, O Lord God; for there is no one like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
- Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body. - The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
they go down into the inner parts of the body. - When your eyes light upon it, it is gone;
for suddenly it takes wings to itself,
flying like an eagle toward heaven. - Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.
- The wealth of the rich is their strong city;
in their imagination it is like a high wall. - But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
- Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will make your vindication shine like the light,
and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
