- This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
- Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
- The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously. - But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
- All day long he craves for more,
but the righteous give without sparing. - May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.
- For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
- But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit. - Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
- Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
- Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. - You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
- But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
- Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
- Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom. - No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
- Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy. - Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior. - Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
- As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
- As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things. - We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
- The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
- Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
