Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law. | Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. |
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. | Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. |
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their deeds, as were recorded in the scrolls. The sea gave up all the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them. The dead were judged according to their deeds. | And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. |
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
Above all, maintain the fervor of your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. | Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. |
For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another. | For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. |
On one Sabbath as Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, a woman was present, possessed by a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and completely unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.” Then he laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had effected a cure on the Sabbath, and he said to the assembled people, “There are six days when work is permitted. Come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath.” The Lord said to him in reply, “You hypocrites! Is there a single one of you who does not untie his ox or his donkey and lead it from its stall to give it water on the Sabbath? Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has held bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath?” At these words, all his adversaries were put to shame, and the people rejoiced at all the wonderful things he was doing. | On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.” The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing. |
Love one another with genuine affection. Esteem others more highly than yourself. | Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. |
May the God of perseverance and encouragement grant that you may live in harmony with one another, following in the example of Jesus Christ. | May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had. |
Therefore, we love because he first loved us. | We love because He first loved us. |
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in uprightness, so that the man of God may be proficient and equipped for good work of every kind. | All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. |
I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another. | A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. |
With all humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in a spirit of love. | Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. |
Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. | Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. |
May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you. | May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. |
During the day the Lord grants his kindness, and at night his praise is with me, a prayer to the living God. | By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. |
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render fair judgments, and show kindness and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor. Do not plot evil in your heart against one another. | This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’ |
Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. |
Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by mutual consent for a specified time so as to devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan may not tempt you by taking advantage of your lack of self-control. | Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. |
There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death. | There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. |
Blessed be the Lord, day after day, the God of our salvation, who carries our burden. Selah | Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. |
Two are better than one: they earn a far greater reward for their toil. | Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. |
Beloved, since God loved us so much, we should love one another. | Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. |
The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. | The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. |
Some friends can lead us to ruin, but a true friend is closer than a brother. | One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. |
