For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18	The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. Therefore let us go on toward perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and not laying again the foundation: repentance from dead works and faith toward God, instruction about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. Hebrews 6:1-2	So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. O how abundant is your goodness that you have laid up for those who fear you, and accomplished for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of everyone! As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
