- Many are the plans in a human mind,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. - No one has ever seen God.
It is the only Son, God,
who is at the Father’s side,
who has made him known. - I ask that from the riches of his glory he may grant through his Spirit that you be strengthened with power in your inner being and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
- Even should my heart and my flesh fail,
God is the rock of my heart
and my portion forever. - Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools are those who despise wisdom and instruction. - Great is the Lord and worthy of the highest praise;
no one can even begin to comprehend his greatness. - Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless
is the man devoid of self-control. - Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of justice,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - God abides in anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
and that person abides in God. - And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- In everything, deal with others as you would like them to deal with you. This is the Law and the Prophets.
- He is the head of the body,
that is, the Church.
He is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead,
so that in every way
he should be supreme. - This is the commandment
we have received from him:
whoever loves God
must also love his brother. - Jesus answered, “If it is possible! All things are possible for one who has faith.”
- The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - Therefore, let us leave behind the basic teaching about Christ and advance toward maturity. We must not be forever laying the foundation: repentance for actions that lead to death, faith in God, instruction about baptisms and the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
- This is the Lord’s message to Zerubbabel: Not by force, nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
- Stand firm, then, with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness clothing you, and with your feet shod in zeal to proclaim the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold in your hand the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
- This is the message
that we have heard from him
and that we declare to you:
God is light,
and there is no darkness at all in him. - He is the reflection of God’s glory
and the perfect expression of his very being,
sustaining all things by his powerful word.
Achieving purification from sins,
he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high. - For the Lord himself is the one who bestows wisdom;
from his mouth come forth knowledge and understanding. - Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand in the way of sinners,
nor sit in the company of scoffers. - And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be poured out for you.”
- Does God give you the Spirit and work mighty deeds among you because you have kept the Law or because you believed what you have heard?
