- The love of money is the root of all evils, and in their desire for it some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many serious wounds.
- This is the Lord’s message to Zerubbabel: Not by force, nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
- Blessed is the one whose offense is forgiven,
whose sin is erased. - Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love,
and the greatest of these is love. - Alleluia.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his precepts. - Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase.
- He is himself the sacrifice for our sins—
and not only for our sins
but also for the sins of the whole world. - For it is in him that the entire fullness of deity dwells in bodily form, and you share this fullness in him who is the head of every ruler and power.
- Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand in the way of sinners,
nor sit in the company of scoffers. - Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church, the body of which he is the Savior.
- The fear of the Lord provides instruction in wisdom,
and to be humble is the way to honor. - The proud man’s heart is not upright,
but the righteous man will live
because of his faith. - Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
- There is no holy one like the Lord,
there is none beside you,
nor is there a rock like our God. - Many are the plans in a human mind,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. - Indeed, who is God except the Lord?
Who is the Rock besides our God? - But he is to ask with faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind.
- This is the end of my teaching.
All has been heard.
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for that is the responsibility of everyone. - But what I tell you is this: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, since it is God’s throne, or by earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King.
- I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch
that does not bear fruit,
and every branch that does
he prunes to make it bear even more. - And thus we can have confidence in him
that if we ask anything
that is in accordance with his will,
he hears us. - Yours, O Lord, are greatness,
power, glory, strength, and majesty,
for everything in heaven and on earth is yours.
Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all. - Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them the path to follow. - Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you? If he is not, then you have failed the test.
- We also know
that the Son of God has come
and given us understanding
so that we can know the one who is true.
And we are in the one who is true,
since we are in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life.
Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your noble confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses.O Lord, all my longing is known to you,
and my sighs are not hidden from you. For I know full well the plans I have for you, plans for your welfare and not for your misfortune, plans that will offer you a future filled with hope.Next verse! With image
