Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. | Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares about you. |
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
|
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” | Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, it will be enough for us.” |
And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. | And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God. |
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” | I then heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!” |
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. | This is how we know what love is: he laid down his life for us, and we in turn must be prepared to lay down our lives for our brethren. |
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. | Our temporary light afflictions are preparing for us an incomparable weight of eternal glory. |
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. | We have come to know and to believe in the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. |
Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. | He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good. |
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? | He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him? |
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands. | May the favor of the Lord, our God, rest upon us. And may the work of our hands prosper— indeed, may the work of our hands prosper. |
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. | Indeed, it is seldom that anyone will die for a just person, although perhaps for a good person someone might be willing to die. Thus, God proved his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. |
Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. | The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but worldly cares and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. |
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. | In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words. |
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. | For us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist. |
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. | He made him who did not know sin to be sin for our sake, so that through him we might become the righteousness of God. |
Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us. | If we are diligent in observing all of these commandments before the Lord, our God, as he commanded of us, then this will be our righteousness. |
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. | This, in fact, is what you have been called to do, because Christ himself suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his footsteps. |
For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. | For you, O God, have put us to the test; you have purified us as silver is refined. |
In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul. | When my anxious thoughts multiplied, your comfort filled my soul with joy. |
Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. | Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you should arm yourselves also with the same intention. For anyone who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin. |
May the Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He not leave us nor forsake us. | May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us. |
Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake! | Help us, O God, our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and wipe away our sins for your name’s sake. |
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. | For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for a life of good works that God had prepared for us to do. |
The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. | The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him. |
