Giving to the needy (4/4)

  • Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.
  • To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
  • For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
  • Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
  • The Lord detests lying lips,
    but he delights in people who are trustworthy.
  • The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless,
    but it is the ruin of those who do evil.
  • Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
  • From the Lord comes deliverance.
    May your blessing be on your people.
  • Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
  • Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: None of my words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled, declares the Sovereign Lord.’
  • Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
  • No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
  • The heart is deceitful above all things
    and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
    “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind,
    to reward each person according to their conduct,
    according to what their deeds deserve.”
  • In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
  • The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
    he delivers them from all their troubles.
    The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
  • Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
  • “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
  • Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
  • But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
    I wait for God my Savior;
    my God will hear me.
  • Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
  • The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
  • In that day you will say:
    “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done,
    and proclaim that his name is exalted.”
  • Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.
  • Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
    Lord, hear my voice.
    Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.
  • But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

Bible verse of the day

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
