| But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. | But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. |

| The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. | The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. |

| A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word! | A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! |
| And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. | And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. |
| But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. | But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. |

| Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. | Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. |
