- The wise in heart will receive commandments:
but a prating fool shall fall. - And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring.
- And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
- Before destruction the heart of man is haughty,
and before honour is humility. - The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the Lord search the heart,
I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings. - The statutes of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes. - Though an host should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear:
though war should rise against me,
in this will I be confident. - They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
- But I have trusted in thy mercy;
my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the Lord,
because he hath dealt bountifully with me. - Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the Lord pondereth the hearts. - So teach us to number our days,
that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. - Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
- Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil:
but to the counsellors of peace is joy. - Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
- And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
- According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
- For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,
saith the Lord. - And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
- And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
- There are many devices in a man's heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. - A man's heart deviseth his way:
but the Lord directeth his steps. - But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
- Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
- If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
- Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
