| Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. | Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. | Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. | Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. |
| Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good. | Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you. |

Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.” | If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. |
| You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. | You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. |
| Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. | Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. |
| Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. | So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. |
| I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. | Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. |
| So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. | Know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. |
| May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed. | May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans! |
| But when you had eaten and were satisfied, you became proud and forgot me. | But when they had grazed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me. |

| So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless. | Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. |
| Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!” | But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? | You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. | Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. |
| But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” | But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” |
| Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ | Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ |
| Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart. | The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body. |
| We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. | The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. |
| Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. | Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. |
