While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”But when the disciples saw him walking on the water they thought it was a ghost and they cried out, for they all had seen him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Have courage! It is I! Do not be afraid!”
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.Although it was our afflictions that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, we thought of him as stricken, as struck down by God and afflicted.
The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.All those who keep his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And the proof that he abides in us is the Spirit that he has given us.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him.
As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.The way of God is blameless, and the Lord’s promise proves true; he is a shield to all who flee to him for safety.
But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.Take heed to follow the commandments and the laws that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you: to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways and to observe his commandments, holding fast to him and serving him with all your heart and all your soul.
‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’For ‘In him we live and move and have our being.’ As even your own poets have said, ‘We are all his offspring.’

Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.”Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.”
I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.All I want is to come to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and to share in his sufferings by becoming conformed to his death.
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.For I resolved that, while I was with you, I would know nothing except Jesus Christ—and him crucified.

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall also be united with him in his resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be destroyed and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”Jesus answered, “If it is possible! All things are possible for one who has faith.”
And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask him, we may be sure that all we ask of him will be ours.
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them.
But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.But whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty. The water that I will give him will become a spring of water within him welling up to eternal life.
“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.Jesus said to him, “Go on your way! Your faith has made you well.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed him along the road.

For the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him.
